Letter from the President

Welcome WTPA members and supporters,

I hope this message finds you well.  I'm honored to serve as the President of the West Texas Pharmacy Association and grateful for the opportunity to share a few thoughts with you. My journey in pharmacy began in 1990 at Eastland Drug in Eastland, Texas where I started as a delivery boy and worked the soda fountain. I continued to work there for 9 years and ran the pharmacy from top to bottom. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to pharmacy and community that continues today.  I joined Amerisource Drug Corporation in 1999 where I spent over 11 years in various sales roles. This helped me continue my focus on Independent Pharmacy. I ended up leaving ABC to join American Pharmacies in 2011 and proudly serve as the senior vice president of sales. Here, I am part of advocating for independent pharmacies across more than 40 states.

WTPA is more than an organization, it's a community. In 2015 I established a scholarship at WTPA in memory of my parents Roy and Danelda Gevara whose values continue to guide me today. These scholarships at WTPA have helped so many students further their ambition to becoming Pharmacist. If you would like to learn more about how you can help support the scholarship program, please contact us.

I'm blessed to share my life with my wife Abigail that I met in 2021 and our two children London and Ashton.  My family reminds me daily of the importance of legacy and service each day. As we look ahead WTPA remains committed to empowering its members through education and connections. Whether through scholarships, networking, or fellowship, our mission is clear. I look forward to seeing everyone at this year's Spring Retreat at Carter Creek Winery, April 17-18 in Johnson City, Texas. Thank you for your continued support and together we will ensure that pharmacy not only survives but thrives.

Ryan Gevara, President
